72 million children around the world are not enrolled in school; (World Bank Development Indicator 2008.) K. Nyame Educational Foundation focuses on providing basic education to those who need it most. Access to education is not only a basic human right, but also a key factor in reducing poverty and child labor. Access to quality education for the poorest and most marginalized people is the goal. But access is not enough. Once in school, children need to be assured of a safe environment enabling them to realize potentials of learning. As a minimum standard, we believe that education must result in sufficient levels of literacy and proficiency. This enables people to lift themselves out of poverty and continue to improve their lives.
KNEF was established in 2007 with seven student scholarships. To date, KNEF has helped over 115 brilliant but needy students to reach their educational goals. KNEF hopes to continue to secure funding for many more. If you are interested in helping fund a student's school fees in Ghana, any amount helps and is greatly appreciated.
